I have enjoyed my modules so far we had a couple of field trips in first year so that’s definitely a part that I have enjoyed. I find seeing things you have learned in theory jn real life really helps with understanding read more

Physical Geography, BSc Hons FullTime

I'm only a first year physical geographer but I know it's something I want to continue doing. Lancaster really pushes you to work as hard as possible and that's evident through the grades achieved by its students. I love the course and my lecturers try to make it as interesting as possible, from climbing across the lecture tables to describe the jet stream to throwing sweets at the students to explain convection and conduction. I highly recommend. read more

Earth and Environmental Science, BSc Hons FullTime

A very interesting course based on all current environmental problems, which are very relevant. Some aspects of the course are very technical, especially the chemistry and maths modules, but they are nonetheless interesting. Whilst A level maths and chemistry are recommended, if you don't have these, like myself, modules are available to help you catch up with the rest of the course. read more

Course has been okay. Core modules in first and second year were generally not great or well organised (ie 101 and 210). Third year has been the best for choice but still not a lot of modules to choose from even on the most basic geography scheme. Teaching standards vary- some lecturers are super helpful and genuinely care about helping you achieve the best you can, whereas others couldn’t care less. Academic tutor system doesn’t work. You’re paired randomly, so most of the time your tutor is not working in the same area you are studying. I’ve seen mine 4 times my entire time at university and he couldn’t remember my name or which year I was in. read more

Geography, MArts Hons FullTime

Potential to be an interesting course, but some very obscure concepts that don’t seem to be related to geography. Feels very much like a name for a topic which is basically just biology/chemistry/physics/geology in physical geography, and sociology/economics/politics in human geography. Doesn’t feel like it’s own discipline, rather an over arching collection of disciplines under the name “geography” read more

Geography, MArts Hons FullTime

Feels like you're taking up tutors time, not very helpful. The course content is good but feel like they give too much reading, and not enough in the lectures. Careers fairs are always science and technology, very few directly related to Geography. Value for money is awful. Lectures are only 50 minutes long, and at present, only have 7 'hours' a week, less than 1 full school day. Feels like we're paying for nothing. Only given £1 printing credit, very few copies of core texts in the library, not always online and university bookshop sells books at extortionate prices read more

Not good, geography didn't appeal to me but to those who are more interested in geography and that can motivate themselves to read for it then this is the perfect degree. Those who are looking to do a single geography (ie. Physical/human) should so a single part so you aren't forced to do them both! read more

Geography, MArts Hons FullTime

Very well taught. The first year you sort of have to bear with all the core modules and try to find out what aspects of the course interest you most in order to really tailor your degree in second and third year. There is a lot of scope for doing this. And by having a major/minor degree scheme you can dip your toe in another subject. read more
