I recently completed a course that, while it did offer some valuable content, I feel is not worth the investment for those who are more inclined to learn independently. Here’s my take on the course and why I believe it falls short in terms of value for money. 1. Content Quality: The course material itself was informative and covered a range of topics relevant to the subject matter. The lectures were well-structured, and the readings were comprehensive. However, much of the content was available through free or low-cost resources online, which made the high price tag difficult to justify. 2. Independence Over Guidance: One of the main reasons I felt the course was overpriced was the lack of personalized guidance. Most of my learning was done independently, with little interaction with instructors or peers. While self-directed learning is beneficial, I believe the course could have provided more support and engagement to warrant its cost. 3. Lack of Interaction: The course lacked a vi read more

Some module's PPTs lack content (some only have a few images, others contain schemes but that doesn't work for everyone like me), and the organisation of each module can be confusing especially because it is taught by different lecturers. I’m supposed to do a group poster but still haven't had my tutor meeting neither the group or individual meeting. read more

I have enjoyed my course, thus far. Due to the nature of Common Year One, I have had the opportunity to engage in many different disciplines within biosciences that have provided me with foundational knowledge that I can apply in the coming years of my degree. My personal tutor has been very helpful in guiding me through the process of starting university and acclimating to a new way of learning. I really like the structure of my degree as it allows me to test which elements of biomedicine I enjoy learning about and then choose a pathway/modules that align(s) with my interests, its very flexible. read more
