My course is actually veterinary medicine but it didn’t come up. Love the course, very practical and interesting. Lots of online things which is frustrating and lonely especially in your first term. Teaching staff can be scatty and unreliable. Kind of disappointing after what my hopes for the vet school would be.

Wildlife Conservation and Ecology (with placement), BSc Hons FullTime
With my course it’s been challenging but in the best way, I’ve had so much inspiration given to me by my lectures, the quality of the teaching is great, experienced lectures in a variety of subjects and areas. The course tutor of personal tutor has been good, although our course tutor is shared with the ELM course and there is a focus on them in tutor times. The value for money is great. Be sure to download the lectures PowerPoints they’re there for you to use! And they do disappear the next year in the course with us bad. Course content is varied, however there has been some debate whether the animal welfare and zoology subject areas are relevant or not. Job prospects are boundless, any area in conservation you want to go into is covered in this course, from ranger to ecological consultant. read more

First year modules not very relevant. Amount of behaviour lectures in first year no different to zoology or wildlife conservation - only one module which also covers welfare and ethics. Improves later, in second and final year. read more

The course begins broad, allowing you to explore your interests in companion, farm and zoo animals and their health, welfare and behaviour within your first two years. Gaining both in lecture and practical experience in this time, in the companion house (rabbits, chinchillas, snakes, horses, lizards and more.. and on the university farm and zoo trips). You then have the perfect opportunity to further this with your placement year in third year. Final year becomes more specific focusing on qualifying for a Canine and Feline Animal Behaviorist setting you up to be CCAB certified. read more
