The first year is very much about experimenting with media, visual language, different project briefs, discovering the facilities on campus (eg printing rooms) and finding our interests. I have just finished studying the wonderful Interior Design course at Falmouth. It has been such an amazing couple years at the university with the constant support of hard working lecturers and tutors, who are always finding new ways to improve. I found that Falmouth has been so personal the whole way through and I was not seen as a number on a piece of paper which I was at other interviews when I was looking at Interior Design degrees. The course allows you to explore different routes within interior design and its definitely one of the most employable courses in the UK. Couldn't recommend this course enough! read more

Competitions, awards, weekly reviews and team meetings. The community within this course is next to none and the opportunities that have come my way thus far have been amazing. We're expected to achieve this, though not feeling pressured. We're guided to fulfil our potential. Great facilities, large range of technology (gear, dark room, studios, computer suite). Some modals more interesting than others. Lectures range with how supportive they are, most are good. Some give criticism with not constructive element to it. Technicians are fab, always around to support your vision and try solve issues. Work Experience modual didn't give much support, have to do all yourself even when struggling to secure placement. With covid it drastically made it much harder. read more

First year tutor is very helpful and friendly and always available for chats about anything. The course is very fun with many inductions with the technicians and a lot of opportunities to work in the studio and collaborate with the rest of the course and chances to collborate with other courses. Studying BA Photography here was the worst decision of my life - waste of time and money. YR 1 lecturers are useless with no clue how to 'teach' students, really disappointing. Please choose another location. The location of the university makes a huge impact, Cornwall lacks a photography industry here. Studying in London would open more opportunities to make a connections in industry. This uni is run like a factory to make money with hardly any time to discuss work with the tutors at the weekly 15 min tutorials - unhelpful. The tutors have no understanding of how to 'teach' someone. The whole course lacked direction and clarity of expectations, guidance and support. There was a 1 hr lecture per week based on theory and dated humanity, dogmatic and baseless theories. I regret going here, it was an unstimulating course, The facilities are amazing and it was a huge draw for me, but the equipment and studios would need to be booked a month in advance. read more

The course is great of you really want to go into Fashion Photography. While they like to make it sound like you can branch out and explore other creative paths they really won't help you much with that. Well they haven't this year. Though the staff and teaching style seems to be changing. Certain lectures have been unhelpful, condescending and at times rude. However there have been some that are helpful and very knowledgeable. I personally wouldn't recommend this course unless you're 100% sure you want to go into the fashion industry if you do you will thrive. However other creatives can feel limited. This being said the university has great resources and you can tailor the modules to your personal interests fairly easy. THERE IS LITTLE TO KNOW MODULE OPTIONS, I thought this would be more prominent in my uni experience but the course has been widely rigid and inflexible. read more
