Biomedical Science (Including Professional Training Year), BSc Hons FullTime
I dont love how research focused the course was. I know I signed up for Cardiff university and this is a research focused uni now, but I dont think this information was clear enough when I initially signed up to the course and I was left a but disappointed with the amount of job opportunities I felt like I could aspire to outside of academia. Some practicals were just poor quality… in one practical that was part of the “brain and behaviour” model we had to act as if we were monkeys to get a chance to see monkey dynamics. This was one of 3 practicals in the year and trully made me angry and gave me the feeling that I was wasting money on the course. read more

I love my course. I find it so fascinating and all the lecturers seem to love it too. It’s difficult sometimes to understand some lecturers and they bombard you with information (it’s not one of those courses where you can just not go to your lectures). The assignments can be really difficult but the staff are usually there to help. We’ve done some fun trips and practicals. I do think some more career talks would be good because in zoology, they seem to push research on people when a lot of us don’t want to do research. read more

My first year was a general year which made me look into every degree available under Bio science. This was an advantage for me as I was indecisive about the course that I wanted to take. My personal tutor helped me through my decision. On the other hand, some of the lecturers were interacting with students which made it feel more like a high school classroom. read more

Very knowledgeable lecturers, passionate about their trade, great people who are very understanding and will support you during the course. The Biological Chemistry module has very uninspiring lecturers, however, creating very confusing lecture by constantly pinning equations on the presentation without providing any context. read more
