I think Chemical Engineering is a great course it has many modules that differ a lot but I quite like it as I am learning new skills from each. The course also has many people from many backgrounds so it is very diverse. The professors that teach us are very helpful and give loads of options if we are in need of any help. read more

THIS IS FOR THE FOUNDATION YEAR (Course not listed on here) The lecturers are all fantastic and show a genuine interest in helping you succeed. They are prompt to answer emails and questions and are easily approachable. The coursework and exams were very fair and the content of the course was engaging. There were some modules that were brand new compared to A-Levels but the lecturers did a great job at covering these. If you are serious about working hard you may struggle with distractions, there were A LOT of disrespectful students on this course that would play music out loud, throw food, shout as they enter/leave lectures, and talk really loudly. However you can get through it if you stay focused! The foundation programme overall is very good, even if you do not have a science/maths background at A-Level. It reached a certain quality that I was able to transfer to a Russell Group university once I finished it (in case you wanted to do that!) read more

I have gained a lot from this course, enabling me to enter the industry straight away after finishing. The lecturers really want you to succeed and they are always asking for feedback. A lot of the modules include resources that are usually very expensive, which results in a unique experience where you can learn a lot of industry-specific skills. read more

I attended Aston for 9 months and it had been a bad experience. It was a big mistake to choose this uni as I believed the TEF gold ranking was really good to study Mech Eng, not to mention it almost killed my future after doing the 1st year. The support system at Aston is dreadful even the EAS staff didn't consider people from different backgrounds. read more

I attended Aston for 9 months and it had been a bad experience. It was a big mistake to choose this uni as I believed the TEF gold ranking was really good to study Mech Eng, not to mention it almost killed my future after doing the 1st year. The support I got was dreadful and a lot of the EAS staff didn't take consideration for the fact that everyone came from different educational backgrounds. Also the support I got from other students on the course was terrible. Aston was a depressing place to be in as a student and so was B'ham. It was so boring as I hardly knew anyone and I was mainly alone in the halls. 2 flatmates were hardly around!! Unite Students Aston was an absolute joke!! The social life was bad as well. If you want a uni with good social life and support (teaching, peer support etc.), you're better off going somewhere else rather than Aston. The uni only cares about money and business. They do not understand that this is a burden on students (and parents)! read more

Oh boy, if you are thinking of coming to Aston for engineering, DON'T. This uni has many problems it hides under the rug. The staff here are unhelpful and make the subject uninteresting. The facilities are excellent for a college but a joke for a University. The main problem with the engineering course is 50% of your mark during your degree will be based on group work, this is a big issue with the course, if your given a poor group that lack drive your chances of getting a first are out of the window. This university does not offer any engineering clubs where people can do extra-circular activities surrounding there course. For example an electronics club which is present many other unis. This university only wants money, than nurture engineers of the future and that exactly why their course is group project dominated as it's cheap to buy materials than it to have a more advanced group projects or lecturers. Please reconsider your options if your going here for engineering. read more
