Criminology and Policing, BA Hons FullTime

As someone who wants to join the police via a fast track entry program, this has got to be one of the best courses to do for it. The fact that the majority of my lecturers have had some connection to the police, other law enforcement or research on crime makes it so much more enjoyable listening to what they have to say because you know that they know what they’re talking about. Lectures are always delivered in an interesting and inviting way so I really feel like I’m getting the most out of them. When it comes to the student loans, that’s not something you have to worry about for a long while and besides it’s something you'll really notice paying back! read more

I really liked ARU and found the professors and staff to be very welcoming and friendly. I never felt that I couldn't approach somebody to ask for directions when I was a fresher which made the adjustment a lot more comfortable. The uni are very good with providing student support and make their services extremely accessible for everybody. I never used support services and so cannot comment on whether they were effective but had friends use them and said they were helpful. I was ill close to the beginning of term and they also called to check on me and were very understanding. I did drop out of ARU but this was largely due to my living situation and the fact that it was not feasible to commute. If I had been able to commute I would have and really recommend ARU. Please note I did live in halls but they were off campus and so I can't comment on the campus accommodation! read more

A lot of the content can simply be caught up on in bed in your accommodation due to it all being available online. However there are several lectures on the course that expand on the content very well and make their lectures very engaging. If you take this course however you are likely to only be in uni 3 days a week, which raises the question whether it’s worth the hefty price tag of £9,250. Job prospects after this course however is very attractive and the course will highlight the many many differcet possibilities that are available with a degree in criminology. read more
