Well trained and informative staff
Need to be more open and larger choice on clubs or society or even just to be promoted more
It's good at collegiate campus
Facilities are excellent and the student union is great accommodating for everyone. However the only downfall is the Lecturers, some of which show no enthusiasm and may as well not be there.
Really nice place and very organised. Facilities are great
Lovely modern friendly university. Very helpful support staff and great facilities. The only downside being is the lack of use the student union gets!
really great university, couldn't imagine being anywhere else
Sept 2015 cohort. Informative lectures, great teaching staff, good facilities including cashless system, supportive and decent nightlife
great nightlife even better academic support
Nice and modern city campus with a great social vibe about it, high variety of learning facilities and a great SU to suit.
Very little green space was my first reaction. There are a lot of clubs to join but the bar at the SU is pretty poor beside from on quiz night when there is not a seat in the building. The library is large and very confusing, books for my subject where dotted about on all different floors and places. The library is open 24/7 which does really help and there are many different working areas for different needs.
Great uni, having a brilliant time
The aren't that many societies that aren't course or sports related
Really like the uni and facilities etc. The wifi doesn't work on campus and the lifts can be quite slow but it is a great uni to study at.
Overall good experience so far but disappointed with the clubs and societies on offer.
The campus has both a modern but timed look to it, and is in a good condition
Really nice buildings, well laid out.
Fresher's week is crazy with free stuff being thrown at you, the City Campus has a number of places to eat all of which are great value, The union bar is very nice but it's a shame it's not open on Sundays.
The uni itself is fantastic, almost everything they offer helps you improve your employability. The library is fantastic and accommodates all types of students, quiet or loud or groups, for any kind of project. Essay writing, group posters, silent reading; whatever you want to do, you can do in the Sheffield Hallam Library. Also the automated renting system is fantastically impressive.
Only visited the campus a few times so far but nice and modern, can't date other facilities as not yet used then
I enjoy the university. I am at collegiate campus which is really nice and every where is easy to find, not to intimidating like other universities and campuses. Great to find cheap food nearby and things to do. However, the library is far too small for a university and the food they sell at the campus is expensive (to say they are supposed to be accommodating for students). Could be better.
Love Sheffield Hallam university, the people, the city.. everything. would definitely recommend joining a club or society in first year to make as much friends as possible because it can get quite lonely if you limit yourself to your flat.
I have really loved my three years at Sheffield Hallam. It's a lovely, friendly university, which has challenged me and encouraged me to succeed!
Everything is really good at the university. I am based at collegiate campus doing a sport course. The only let downs were although I went to the sport society opening. It was a bit packed and struggled to find what I was looking for.
Great Uni, could do with a few more computers and the student health centre is very very bad at getting back to me at appointments.
I've not been to the clubs and societies, but people that i know who have say that they're really good. I also haven't yet used the wifi there, but people do use tablets and laptops in seminars and lectures and they haven't complained yet! I'm in love with the uni, it's a great place and has a lot to offer, especially since the library is huge, theres plenty of resources you can use.
So glad I came Hallam as the experience I've had is so far been amazing I'm so glad I've carried on with my sport as if I didn't I wouldn't of made such amazing people. All facilities are kept so well and looked after on both campus
Glad I chose this uni over my other choices. Not the best uni in the world, but it's better than most other uni's in the country. I'd definitely recommend them.
I love Sheffield Hallam University. Although it is not a campus uni, the university building are all very close together, and are right in the centre of Sheffield making a short trip into town very easy. My main fault with the uni would be the students union as it is not a very big building and does not advertise many events, activities etc. too well.
Absolutely adore the uni, and the city itself
Don't regret my decision to attend Hallam, great university in a great city
Sheffield Hallam is a great university in an exciting city. From my time there I have found my course to be really interesting and engaging and there are plenty of options to learn more about what interests you. Hallam has a placement year option available for almost every course making sure you are an employable graduate by the time you leave. There is a dedicated careers and employability centre and lots of events and talks throughout the year to provide students with the relevant information and contacts they need to get where they want to be in industry. There's loads of great sports facilities and even our own Sportspark. I have enjoyed my time at Sheffield Hallam so much and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Hallam has been great! If you live in sheffield then you will know the hallam v uni of rivalry. I personally got the grades for uni of and still chose hallam. I study languages with TESOL and the course seemed more suited to me as I could base my languages around teaching and it also gives me the option of spending 18 months abroad where I would only have had a year at uni of. The uni is pretty relaxed, they won't chase you if you're not turning up to things so you just need to take that responsibility and you'll be fine! The uni is very sociable and there is always many nights out(it's normally hard deciding where you want to go on a night out as there's normally a couple of club/student nights on each day) the location is great as it's in the city centre and very close to everything. I've not had to once a bus at all. Student union only has a bar which does an awesome smart phone quiz on a Monday but there's that many student nights it's not an issue at all.
Teachers are great plus careers advice Is amazing
Love the WiFi connection & my teachers
Its OK I guess but students union is the best part
I love the city and course Not to mention my tutors rock
Not a bad place for my postgraduate degree. Good teachers
Thank You To My Teacher Rachel For Making My Learning worthwhile
Great facility and I can't wait to graduate.
I really like the university & my course however I would like there to be more musical activities available @ the students union
Hallam is alright. There should be a part to rate the organisation of the university i.e. admin etc... because that has been TERRIBLE in my experience. But if you take away the lack of organisation then my experience at Sheffield Hallam has been completely positive.
I absolutely love studying at Sheffield Hallam (even if the Students' Union is a bit rubbish!) because the campus is modern, has great facilities and is located right near the city centre.
The support network for final year students is outstanding. I feel confident in being able to access the support that I need while I have the opportunity to engage in fantastic programmes including student socials, societies and academic support.
The course is unorganised and I don't receive the full education I am paying for but the other services are good.
An amazing experience I have loved every minute and would recommend this university proudly!
With a library open 24/7 all year round, a massive range of sports and societies and lecturers that will always make time for you, I would definitely recommend this university to all.
Sheffield Hallam University is a great place to study. It has a fantastic range of courses to choose from. The lecturers are supportive. The halls of residence are located in a lovely part of the city near to the campus. It is an inexpensive place to live. The amenities and nightlife offer many opportunities to socialise and make friends. There are many parks and green areas and it is next to the Peak District National Park. The people are friendly too.
too many club promoters though
going to Hallam really was the best decision I've made.
Modern university with great facilities
the best uni by far ! Fab tutors and architecture rules !
Best university experience I could have possibly asked for!
Minimal contact hours for course costs and some lecturers just not very helpful.
Great University, friendly atmosphere, lecturers and staff. Sources are impeccable whether it be software, hardware or advice!
Verry good university I would reccomend it to anyone
The best university, I have so much fun whilst learning loads
Coming to hallam was the best decision I have ever made.
Tutors and Lecturers can be rude and lazy, only a couple that actually care about your understanding but instead more concerned about just you knowing the answer and not how to get there. If you can, go University of Sheffield.
However some staffs are definitely giving an impressions of they are only there for their wages
Great city, brilliant uni. The staff listen and perform when we give them feedback. It is a constant effort to improve and they are doing a great job. Go Hallam!
Great uni, Just wish we had more of a student union night thats all! :P
Excellent university! As a Bioscience student, the labs we use are first-rate, with many of the same facilities as are available in research labs and industry. The library is filled with excellent computers (with a very good booking system) and all the books we need. Any journals we need but that the uni don't have can be ordered in for us, free of charge. Wifi is VERY fast and works perfectly. Staff are supportive and helpful, and usually lecture in the area they are researching. Very knowledgable and always seem enthusiastic. Lots of support available for careers, ie how to get jobs and how to be the best applicant, hence why such a high percentage of graduates are in work or further study. The Union is good but the building itself could be improved. They provide good support for students and always have a wide range of activities to sign up for. Societies are run well, and the number is always increasing so there are loads to join. I'm incredibly happy here!
Vast research into a course is required, or you end up being on a course that is misadvertised.
Best place for art and design, plenty of facilities and tutor support. The clubs and pubs around the university campus are great too.
I would never recommend this university to anyone. The lack of organisation not only rubs through the faculty aces, but also you can feel it in the uni as a whole. The health service and student support are good however. Great support.
