1st. University of Sheffield

Regularly voted the best Students’ Union in the UK, it's no surprise that the University of Sheffield tops our list. Students love that there are plenty of nights out to choose from, whether it’s a Saturday night at Poptarts or a Tuesday night at The Tuesday Club, with previous guests including the likes of Rudimental and Disclosure. Sheffield Students’ Union is more than a nightclub though. Last year Sheffield students managed a huge 45,080 hours of volunteering with over 2,561 student volunteers taking part. In addition to this Sheffield RAG (raising and giving) supported over 140 societies, clubs, student groups, and individuals to fundraise over £184,000 for various charities. The Sheffield Students’ Union can have a great community feel to it especially when it comes to their annual Sheffield Varsity sports competition against local rivals Hallam. They have won the competition for the past three years running and last year the ice hockey final set a new record for the highest Varsity ice hockey attendance outside North America.

2nd. University of Dundee

The University of Dundee boasts an impressive students’ association, which actually doubles as Dundee's largest nightclub. Not only does the nightclub host 'SKINT' every week which is inexpensive and safe for students, but they also host big acts such as Biffy Clyro and Dundee's own 'The View'. DUSA also runs national award-winning student media outlets with it’s own 'DUSA TV' winning best broadcaster at the NaSTA 2015 Awards. With over 100 societies on campus raising thousands for various charities affiliated with DUSA, the student-ran association continues to work for every student’s needs and interests.Tim Hustler, the President of DUSA said, “These scores reflect all the hard work of everyone at DUSA, from the full-time members of staff to all the student staff. Most importantly it’s a reflection on all the students at Dundee who make DUSA the community that it is, so I really want to thank them for making DUSA what it is today.”

3rd. University of Hull

Third in our list of the best Students' Unions in the UK is the union of Hull University. A Gold award in the Students’ Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEI) and being NUS Students’ Union of the Year (2012) shows that the union is no stranger to receiving accolades. The Students’ Union leads activities with and for students, across the University and the wider community. At Hull you can get involved in a whole range of extra-curricular activities - everything from volunteering opportunities and joining societies to taking part in student media and becoming a member of International Students’ Association (ISA). Along with this comes the sports teams (over 50 of them), available for every level of ability from beginner right up to National athletes. And finally, the nightlife. Hull have their own night-club on campus and run two weekly club-nights that are always a big hit with the students. With so much going on, it comes as no shock that Hull have made it onto our list of the top unions. Rachel Kirby of HUU’s marketing team said: "Here at Hull, we actively encourage you to take ownership of your university life. HUU is entirely member led, separate from the University and here to listen to and help you solve problems."
