I love my course and have enjoyed studying it but we barely have any contact hours and everything is really easy I wish it was a bit harder. The course and school doesn’t help you get jobs the course content is enjoying but very short and easy . read more

Studying a new subject at university has definitely provided me with new transferable skills that can be used when looking at jobs in the future. The only downfall is the strikes, which is why the value for money has lost its rating. read more

my course is good and my lecturers have all been quite nice. the reading material is quite accessible and in first year if you got stuck on an essay then they were always happy to help you. some of the lecturers are a bit full of themselves but I guess you'll find this at any university. lecture hall is nice. read more

Social Policy, BA Hons FullTime

Beautiful campus and fun social scene but the actual course was very poor. This course was a real let down in terms of the quality of teaching and engagement that we received. The school of social sciences made Social Policy feel like it was second place in importance compared to criminology or sociology. It seems like the university does not care about this degree at all, the teaching we received was very mixed and the input into seminars or study groups was very minimal for us. There is also a real issue of lecturers and tutors and the department as a whole not responding to student concerns or queries through email. This course needs a complete overhaul and students need to be consulted more about any module changes etc. I felt very unsupported and overall let down by what should have been an exciting and interesting first year at the university of Birmingham. read more

I’m afraid the tutor responses and support is very poor. They do not respond to student queries re modules , which wastes students time. Lecturers were also on strike which fragments the students learning. The students should have a refund on this as it’s not acceptable read more
