History, Philosophy and Politics, BA Hons FullTime

It does often feel like I am paying £9,250/year for a Library membership and a few powerpoints each week. An increase in contact hours would be brilliant, if only to just double the seminar time; as it stands, seminars are so time stretched that there is often not enough time to actually go through and talk about everything that needs discussing with a member of staff present. The teaching is generally very good; the lecturers are engaging and interested in their subject areas and clearly take their role seriously; it's not just a job to support their research. That said, we do have many highly intelligent lecturers including the one and only Chris Macleod, expert on JS Mill. The courses are generally well constructed, with the notable exception of HIST100 (the Introduction to History). It does get a lot better in later years however. Generally speaking, there is a wide variety of interesting subjects that one can pursue in your quest for knowledge, whatever your interests.

History and Politics, BA Hons FullTime

I genuinely have tons of amazing memories while doing my undergraduate studies here at Lancaster University, as my department (Politics, Philosophy and Religion) is very supportive of me and my peers. Most of my lecturers and supporting staff members are generally quite considerate if any of the students were to face hiccups in their academic progress, and would strive to assist them in any way possible. read more
