BBK has good facilities available to students with a lecturers providing quality lectures and support out of lectures which is a bonus. Because it’s an evening university, we don’t get as many events as other unis but that’s a choice we make. read more

I feel that the negative reviews come from those with the wrong expectations of Birkbeck going in to the course. How on earth can you slate the facilities and societies when you have access to all that UCL has to offer, should you be willing to enquire? You also have a second campus in Stratford, should you live in east London. The course is catered for those with busy lives, and those looking to progress in their career. For this reason, Birkbeck has a huge advantage over other uni's for older students who are career orientated. They help you find jobs, with regular workshops and opportunities to meet those in a wide range of careers. Your day is free to intern/ volunteer/ gain work experience which is a rare luxury at university. read more

At first glance, Birkbeck appears to be a fantastic place to study. This, however, is quickly ironed out during the study experience. The library staff is a mixed bag: depending on the day, you can get extremely helpful people or none at all. Some students frequently occupy entire library rooms to eat fast food and speak loudly. The student union is more concerned with gaining woke points than with providing practical assistance to students. They held a "communist club" for students :( In terms of the humanities, BBK is particularly woke and retrograde at the moment. On my course, I have tutors who censor themselves as well as those who are militantly promoting radical left viewpoints and defending these ideologies. Many students in my class do not challenge them because these teachers become defensive or completely change the subject. One example of a limited narrative is art history. They also leave phd students to conduct the seminars: all of these students were ineffective. read more

Did a postgraduate degree there. The careers service, at that time, helped me out with my CV and thanks to them I started an internship the same year at Publicis Media and was able to carry on as a full-time employee thanks to their evening classes. Very good experience. read more
Birkbeck, University of London
Birkbeck offers a different university experience from most other institutions across the UK. With lectures and seminars being held in the evening (between 6pm-9pm) for most, if not all, courses, this University of London college offers students the ability to begin or continue working whilst balancing studies. For me, I have been able to gain significant work experience in various sectors, including the sector which I wish to build a long-term career, ahead of graduation. The Bloomsbury campus is fairly close-knit, so expect to bump into classmates who are using the library, Perch Café, the 5th Floor Restaurant, or the George pub. However, I encourage Birkbeck students that live around East London to pay a visit to the Stratford Campus, which Birkbeck shares with the University of East London, as it is usually quiet and can sometimes be more convenient to reach than always travelling to Bloomsbury. Be sure to take advantage of intercollegiate University of London sports clubs! read more
Birkbeck, University of London
As a past student, this review is for the MSc Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology, at Birkbeck College, London, written in the hope to discourage prospective students from wasting their money with this so-called University. Simply put, Birkeck is a money-driven non-educational institution, whose ruthless marketing team will lure into paying in for low-quality teaching and zero work prospects. If you are thinking of joining this course, think twice. The course is overtly theory-based, taught by researchers with very little interest in your learning, as they are mostly concerned about a) progressing their academic career b) disseminating research for their own reputation. But what about the paying students? No one cares, I can tell you that. Their so-called course tutoring is non-existent, with very little academic support offered to students and no encouragement to excel whatsoever. They are clueless about the meaning of education, of duty of care towards students. read more
